Salsa ranchera is a typical part of huevos rancheros. I tried this recipe, loosely based on various others, on 29 June 2010.

Unfortunately, as I mentioned on 30 June 2010, I think this recipe is boring. I won't delete it, but I probably won't make it again.

Ingredients

quantity       ingredient       step
125 g       onion, coarsely chopped       1
25 g       cooking oil       1
25 g       garlic, pressed       2
600 g       tinned tomatoes       3
30 g       red chilis, chopped into slices       3
5 g       salt       3

Preparation

  1. Fry the onion in the oil.

  2. When the onions are about half cooked, add the garlic and cook a little longer.

  3. Put into a blender with the tomatoes, chili and salt. Puree. Replace in the pan and cook until the sauce becomes thick.
